Teacher of the Year

LaTris Sykes has been teaching for 6 years.  Her love for educating young children began while employed as a Substitute Teacher in 2005.  As a dedicated educator, she believes in making a positive difference in the life of every child.  During her time at Montclair Elementary she has taught first grade and is presently teaching Kindergarten.  Mrs. Sykes teaches with enthusiasm and inspires all of her student to use their creative abilities.  She loves sunflowers and includes them in all of her room decor.  Mrs. Sykes takes time to talk with each of her student she says, "So many of our students come to school with very little vocabulary skills so I try to spend time with each of my students just talking with them."
